COVID-19 Update




Nipawin, Saskatchewan – March 24, 2020

The Town of Nipawin continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. The health, safety, and well-being of Town employees and the public, while maintaining essential services are the Town’s top priorities.

The Town is currently taking the following steps to reduce the risk of transmission to employees and to the public:

Facility Closures:  The following Public Facilities have been closed to the public until further notice:

  • Centennial Arena, Jubilee Arena, East Pleasantview Rink, and Pinedale Rink
  • Nipawin Evergreen Centre office, curling rink, auditorium, and meeting rooms. All programs at the facility have been cancelled, and The Spot Restaurant is also closed
  • Cross-country ski equipment and Crokicurl equipment are not available for use
  • Visitor Centre & Tourism Office
  • Town Office
  • Town staff only are permitted in all other Town facilities (Fire Hall, Water Treatment Plant, Public Works Building).
  • Paratransit (Handivan) service is also suspended until further notice

As well, the Boreal Area Regional Waste Authority Waste Diversion Centre (the landfill), will remain closed to the public on all days with the exception of Saturdays from 8:30am until 5:30pm, until further notice. On these days, members of the public will not be required to pay gate fees to ensure there is no direct contact with the Gate Attendant.

Please be advised that the Town of Nipawin Offices are closed.

  • Payments for property taxes, utility bills, bylaw enforcement fines and accounts receivable can still be made through online banking. Charges for late payments will be waived until further notice.
  • Water turn-ons and turn-offs can be scheduled by calling the Town Office at 306-862-9866 during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm – 4:30 pm)


In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and Provincial recommendations, for the next while, Town of Nipawin Council meetings will be held by conference call or other technological means.  ONLY time sensitive items will be discussed for the time-being.

 As per Section 119(3) of The Municipalities Act, the public has the right to be present at Council meeting that are conducted in public.  Therefore, in the event a member of the public wishes to be part of the public portion of a meeting held by conference call, please contact the Town of Nipawin at (306) 862-9866 for further information.
