Demolition Permit

What is a Demolition Permit?

A Demolition Permit is required when tearing down all or part of a building or structure within the Town of Nipawin. This includes houses, garages, sheds, commercial buildings, and even significant interior demolitions that affect structural components.

The permit ensures the work is done safely, legally, and in accordance with all building codes, environmental regulations, and municipal bylaws.

When Do I Need One?

You need a Demolition Permit if you plan to:

  • Fully demolish a building

  • Partially demolish a structure (like a garage or porch)

  • Remove accessory buildings like sheds or mobile units

  • Conduct interior demolition that affects structural elements (e.g. knocking down load-bearing walls)

If you’re not sure whether your project requires a permit, it’s best to contact the Planning & Development office first.
