Moving Permit

What is a Moving Permit?

A Moving Permit is required when relocating a building or structure from one property to another — whether it’s within Nipawin, to Nipawin, or out of Nipawin. This includes homes, garages, sheds, modular units, and other large structures — even if they’re temporary or mobile.

A Moving Permit is also required for sea containers that are intended to be used as a building.

The permit ensures that the move is conducted safely, meets zoning requirements, and complies with local road usage rules and site regulations.

When is a Moving Permit Required?

You must apply for a Moving Permit before:

  • Relocating any residential or commercial building

  • Moving a mobile or modular home

  • Bringing in or removing a large accessory building (like a detached garage or workshop)

  • Using a sea container as a building (whether it’s new or already in use)
