Have you got what it takes to be a firefighter?

A firefighter is a skilled position responsible for safely and efficiently performing various duties under emergency conditions frequently involving considerable hazard.

Nipawin Firefighters provide a 24-hour emergency response service for fires, motor vehicle collisions, and the saving of lives and property.

As well as delivering an emergency service we also deliver a range of prevention and protection activities aimed at reducing fires and other incidents, including the enforcement of fire safety legislation.


What does it take?

All applicants must be over 18 with a valid driver’s license. Training will be provided for the operation of apparatus, equipment and methods used in combating, extinguishing and preventing fires and in rescue work.

Applications available at the Nipawin Fire Hall or the Town of Nipawin Office.

Completed applications may be dropped off at the Fire Hall between 8:00 and 4:30; Attention: Chief Starkell.

 

All new firefighters to join the Nipawin Volunteer Fire Department will be required to:

  1. Be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  2. Submit an employment application
  3. Submit a Doctor’s Certificate stating you are in good health and physical condition.
  4. Be available to be on call, commit the necessary training and department activities.
  5. Provide a letter from their employer that allows them to leave work.
  6. Practices ar the 1st and 3rd Monday at 7:00 p.m.
  7. Jr. firefighters may apply at the age of 16.
